So, aside from this being my 100th post, I have some fantastic news to share. A while back, I had written to the wonderful PR lady at Knott's. We had such a great time filming the Darkest Hours special there and were anxious to repeat that again.
I wrote to her with that and a plan about our upcoming nuptials. Sort of a celebration of Haunt and our wedding all rolled into one.
She wrote back and said that it sounded great! We just have to change our date from Sat. to a weekday since they will have other media there to promote it. Uh, duh, of course we have no problem with that! She also asked if we want it at one of the mazes or at the Chapel. LOL
Hmm, what do you think? We want to be immersed in Haunt. That's the reason we want to do it. Then afterwards we will film the rest of our show sort of as Honeymoon At Haunt. I am trying to rework our guest list as I am sure I will not be able to invite the 100 people due to security reasons.
Which is fine, since we are planning on using the upstairs meeting room in my hotel for a reception that weekend. My manager has already given me the go ahead on that one. I figure a semi-potluck is in order and it will be a grand Halloween party. I can probably get reasonably priced rooms for the family if they need them.
More on this as I get more info.

Another idea is brewing

Ooh, look treasure!

Here's what was really inside. Hehe
I was reading another blog that I follow and I left a message on it. It got me to thinking..what a great idea!
The person stated that they had thought about just taking one of their Halloween props and setting it up on a semi lonely road to leave there. So that way someone would look out the window and wonder who left that ghost floating there?
I was told about geo-caching by a friend of mine. This sounds like it could be a branch of that if nurtured. I haven't really researched it, but basically you bury an object, put in the GPS coordinates and someone goes to find it. Ah, but there's a catch.
If you find and take the object, you have to leave something in return.
So, that would be so fun to take an old Halloween decoration, place it in a box and bury it for others to enjoy. Then you could track where it's been.
Or if someone decided to keep it, they could. Again, as long as they replace it with another treasure.
I don't think geo-caching is that tailored, and I am really thinking that would be really great. Especially if you had to take a pic and post it after you found it.
And it could be for any holiday!
The only 2 downsides I could see would be if someone just took stuff or if someone didn't wrap their offering properly and it got ruined.
But hey, that's treasure hunting. Sometimes you get diamonds, sometimes you get a box full of sand.

Check it out!
I know this will overinflate my ego (hahaha), but I saw the coolest blog today.

Oh, he mentioned me by name! How sweet is that!
I wish he didn't live so far away, I would love to see his haunted yard.
Maybe Jack and I will have to take a trip.
I will have to check the other blogs I follow to see if anyone else followed the trend.

October 3rd, 2009 (no turning back now)
Okay, since we may have to scale back quite a bit, I have thought of a few places to hopefully have our wedding/reception. These are possibles if I can make them work.
The first back-up that I thought of was kind of silly as it has been staring me in the face. Yes, we had the plan of getting married at Forest Lawn in Glendale. Why? It's a cemetery and a very pretty church. But wow, so expensive.
SOOOOOO....c'mon. It's in October, and we have a spectacular place that is already going to be decorated during that time of year. It's our second favorite amusement park.
Knott's Scary Farm!
I know, huh? I discovered it may not be too much either. Here's the link:
http://www.knotts.com/group/wedding/index.shtml
Now since I am a Haunt veteran, I do know that more than likely, we would have to have the reception in the Chicken Dinner restaurant. You know how I know? Well, during Haunt Auntie Pasta's is used for the pre-dinners, The Ballroom has a show in it, and Wilderness Dance Hall usually has a maze inside it.
But oh wow. How fun would that be? We could have our wedding and get pictures with some monsters! Yay!
AND.. on Monday (tomorrow) I am going to call the PR department that we dealt with for the Haunt show last year. She had said we were welcome back anytime. If I can present it as a Haunt/wedding promo, we may get to do it for a lesser price or free!
We were planning on doing another Haunt show anyhow. It's The Darkest Hours Wedding Special at Knott's Scary Farm! Ooh, I like the sound of that.
I will do my best to persuade the powers that be. Then all I would have to worry about is my dress and oh the food. Wish me luck on that.
My second idea was to really try to save money and see if my Mom's friend Judy would be willing to let us use her backyard. It is already decorated so cool. We could just throw a few more Halloweeny type props in there and it would be awesome. It would more than likely be a potluck, but everyone loves to cook and I'm sure we would have plenty for all.
The only issue with that is I would have to cut my guest list so much. But hey, I'm sure I will get a sign soon.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

It's the new year but I want it to be October already!
I am missing the spookiness a lot today.
So to make myself happy, I am going to post some of my pictures from DeviantArt. I went and put them into a slideshow.
The first pictures are from when we got to film The Darkest Hours at Haunt 2008.
The last two are from the Jack The Ripper shoot that we used most of the pictures for the intro. I also did the makeup on the victim, who just happens to be my daughter.
You can see them at www.darkestjack.com.
Enjoy! I know I do.

Goodbye, Halloween closeout stuffs
Oh well, we went back last night and yep, I was right. Since the other things were fancier, the vendors took them back. AWWW. But as I said before, that's okay because my Korbel display is pretty cool.
We were able to get a few items on severe clearance through, so that was fun. The only thing I thought was funny is that the store already had their Christmas tree up with some purchasable (?) toys in the exact place where the Halloween decor had been.. Sheesh, just give me a few moments to breathe!
I do like Christmas, but dang it's technically still Autumn, isn't it? What happened to putting up X-mas decor after Thanksgiving? After the Macy's parade was over? I still do that, regardless. Then everything stays up until January 1st.
My mama taught me right.
And on a sad note, our jack-o-lantern has gone to that pumpkin graveyard so un-romantically named the dumpster. Here it is in its' last moments:

It's horrible that something so neat died such a tragic death so quickly. But I was very tempted to buy one of the pumpkins at the store last night and wait until around Christmas to carve a Santa or a snowman on it. There's festive for you!
Ooh, that's still an idea...

Happiness is...
the fact that I can go to my local grocery store and get the Halloween display given to me for free!
That's right, I had been asking all month and finally I found the manager that was on last night that said, "yeah, we were probably just going to throw it out anyway." I was so jazzed! I had been eyeing this thing for ALL October. Check this out!

There was a few things up that the manager told us she had been instructed to take down last night, but wasn't sure just what was going to happen to those items. We told her we would come back after work and if there was anything that we could have, we would give it a good home. She said that would be fine as she is on until 1am.
I have my fingers crossed since there an awesome wooden coffin that has the Captain Morgan logo on it. It is 5 foot tall! Yes, I can stand inside it. The chances of us taking it home are kinda slim, as it is pretty fancy and I don't see why the vendor wouldn't take it back, but hey I'm thinking positive.
It also helps that almost the entire closing shifters know us and can vouch that we are in there all the time. So keep your fingers crossed too!!! I may have a whole bunches more stuffs to decorate my home with.
If not, I still have this freaking incredible spooky house that came with that figure. We named him Master Korbel as that is the company that made this display.
HEHEHE!

We went to Haunt. Yay!
Oh wow, we had such a phenomenal time! We took Alex and her friend and we were able to do everything we wanted to by 11pm. Going on Thursday and having the early dinner is very worth it.
Do you want to see pictures? I'm sure you do. Here you go!

And here's Alex and Yani. No, Alex doesn't really wear glasses. She just wears them for fashion. Oh, Yani is her nickname. Her name is really ALEX. Yep. LOL!

Oh, and just for randomness, they had the Ghostbusters car complete with the StayPuft marshmallow man. See?

Ooh, I feel the Halloween spirit!

Good morning, world!
Yes, you're not seeing things. I am awake at the crack o' dawn. I wanted a to get a few pics of how the balcony looks now in daylight. Here it is.
Thank you, my sister for that amazing website, Slide. It makes slideshows so easy and painless.

In your face, vanilla people!
So today Jack and I decided to really get our balcony decorated for Halloween. There were a few "normals" that had some stuff out and we couldn't get shown up like that. Oh no. I am going to take a few pics tomorrow during the day too to show the details.
We already have had neighbors saying how great it looks! That's right. We know Halloween.

Mmm, greek food!

These of course have nothing to do with the awesome lunch I had today. This is my pet Smedley on Myspace that I take care of and I can change his habitat. I just thought he looked so cute that I wanted to share.
But anyhow, I had a very nice time with Mom and Molly. We went to Daphne's and the gyros plate was excellent as usual. Damn, I miss eating there.
My Mom gave me the coolest stuffs and I already put them up in the apartment. Oh heck, let me get the camera and I'll post some pics of my place. Be right back.
.............................................................................................
Oh boy I took a lot.
Hopefully I can put these in a slideshow. I will post that right now.

:sigh: I made it.
Well, it was pretty simple. The work, I mean. Geez, I was done by 3:30am. That's a way different change from my other hotel.But I was able to stay awake without the help of an energy drink. Yay! Of course I'll probably need it today when I come back to do my afternoon shift. Joy of joys.
A plus is that I am almost finished with Alex's scarf. I was only gonna use 3 skeins, but since I bought 4, I'm using 4. I'll tell you a secret. The reason is that I never want to see this flippin' yarn ever again. Oh, it looks awesome but knitting with it is pure hell.That girl's lucky I love her. No one else had better ask me for a poofy anything. NOBODY.
I have about 40 more minutes, then I'm going home and crashing out until about 12:30pm. Then I get up to catch my bus to get here by 3pm. Whoohoo.Hey, it's cash. Anyone else would have done the same thing. Don't lie.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
P.S. I bought my Haunt tickets for the 16th. Yes! I can't wait to go through the mazes as a guest and then post my review. Ugh, time to go...and wait for that clock to tick by.
It's up!
Whoohoo! The Darkest Hours Halloween Special is up. Go to www.darkestjack.com to see it. It came out amazing. We are very proud of it. Jack did an incredible job editing and it is already getting a lot of views.
I am sooooo happy right now I might burst.
But actually today we are going to Disneyland. We may be broke, but we have annual passes! So Jack and I are going to check out the Halloween decor. I'm sure I will have pics to post. LOL!
The Darkest Hours goes to Haunt!
Yep, we did it. We finally got to shoot the show at Knott's. Jack has almost finished everything. We watched a test DVD last night and it was so incredible! It was a lot of work for me since I am producer to do the emails back and forth to convince their Marketing dept. that we would be a good idea to help promote them.
But it came out so nicely. I am confident that we made a good impression and once Knott's sees our DVD, they will welcome us back next year. Oh, we did get a few pics. I don't really like how I look in this shot. I think it's because of the skirt I am wearing. See for yourself.
I can't wait to go to Haunt on the 16th! It's also Jack's birthday, so that will be even more of a treat.
Look I can make stuff!
By the way, I knit and am learning how to do special effects makeup. See??
My first hat and booties set.
My second attempt. I'm making these for a special someone who is trying to have a bundle of joy.
My second attempt. I'm making these for a special someone who is trying to have a bundle of joy.
Work in progress. Scarf for Alex.
This is our set from our show The Darkest Hours. Fred the zombie on the left, I did his makeup and costume. Next to him is Chester, the sidekick and of course Jack. I also designed the set and set it up for every show.
I am hoping to eventually go to school to learn how to do special effects makeup like my hero Rick Baker.
