I'm knitting and I just can't stop

Well, I did take a short break after finishing my Mom's scarf. See how pretty?

But I have another order that I really need to get done. Now, our weather has been very kooky. 81 degrees in the day, 42 degrees at night. Very strange.

So I am not too worried that this one is taking me a bit longer to finish. It's for my manager. She had seen the slippers I made and said if I had any if that gray left to make her a scarf. Oh, but she wants it with black stripes. I am working on it now, and once I looked at it, I started laughing.
My manager came out and asked what was so funny? Here, take a look for yourself:
For anyone who may read my journal and not recognize those colors, those are the colors of a certain football team. And of course what makes it even funnier (to me anyways) is she is a fan of that particular team. But she swears that wasn't her reasoning. It just looked pretty, she said.

Anyhow, the team is:

See what I mean? I joked that I was going to get some patches and sew them on to her Raiders scarf! She got such a funny face. But no, what I am hoping to do is find an A monogram and put one on each end.
That will be unique to her, which is what I try to do with each scarf I make.
So I am excited to get that done. Hey, it's $10 that I didn't have before. And I am going to see if I can get that apron made for my sister. I am off Tues, Wed and Fri this week so anything is possible.
Goodnight for now..

I'm going nuts, I tell you!

So I am feverishly knitting my mama's scarf to give to her on Thurs. Why? 'Cause I can. But wow. I am not happy since I have to go back to Target again to get yet another camera for Alex. The first one stopped working after a few hours. And the one I picked up yesterday wouldn't even turn on today.

Now maybe the batteries it came with were almost dead, so I will try that first. But still..If worse comes to worse I will get my money back and go to Walmart instead. Sheesh, I feel horrible as that was her big present this year.

But she will have a new working camera by Thurs, I guarantee you.

It's pretty mellow here tonight, not too much going on. So on that note, I am going to stop typing and get back to knitting. Bye for now!

Oh, by the way, I posted the Christmas pictures to my Myspace. You don't have to be a member to look at them. Just go to this link:

http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewAlbums&friendID=10458659

I would have to say that 90% of my pics are family friendly. For those that are not, I apologize in advance. But I do have a lot of albums with different pictures, so have fun and feel free to take as many as you like. To see more in the album, just click on the main picture and it will open up the album for you.

Okay, now I am really am going. Bye!

Just because I'm crazy like that

So I have been expanding my knitting horizons and learning new patterns. This one is one of the things that most people think of when you say you knit.
That's right. I am making slippers! They are so much fun and not that difficult to make. My next adventure will be to try and make those lace up gloves I see everywhere.
Oh, I have opened a new Myspace page showing off all of my knitted stuffs. I am hoping to start selling the things I make. Go and take a look.
If I get a good response from here, I will open my own online store.

I'm here, I'm here. Stop the funeral. Oh wait..

It's been a rough couple of days. But we made it through. My Sims game was acting the most awesome but then started to be slow. So Jack went and re-installed everything. But with that, my downloads disappeared.

So I have to start all over. :tear: But that's okay. That's the fun of Sims is that you can create entire mini universes.

Then I get a message from the kids' stepmom about taking the kids on Thanksgiving since Daryl won't be home until Sat. She says she cannot afford 2 dinners and that the kids should be with family that day. Ok. First off, if she knew my kids, they don't care if Thanksgiving is on the 27th or Dec.5th.

Second, I have hardly had a holiday off since I started in the hotel business so the chance of my having that day off was going to be rare. Besides, my boss is so happy that I am working the holidays that I am getting a bonus. That's hush, hush.

So I called everyone and told them that Thanksgiving will be on that Friday. Both my kids are happy about it, so if she doesn't like it, too bad.

I will make sure that we see everyone around Christmas though, don't you worry. I have to go to court again for Keith next Tuesday to finalize my conservatorship of him. I am hoping that we finally get this all taken care of. As it is, Keith is still not happy about the situation.

Jack and I are going to see him tomorrow and let him know that even though I cannot take weekends off, I am doing my best to see him as much as possible. I am hoping that once everything is settled, I can find him a home closer to me. Since he goes to school in Buena Park, it's kind of silly for him to live in Bellflower when his dad is planning on moving anyway.

He is really not doing well. I mean, most of it is Keith being Keith, but I want to make his life as stressfree as I can. Not easy, stressfree. He is under the impression that his dad chose his wife over him, and I try to stay as neutral. But I admit it's hard for me to be that way.

Because I feel that way too. But I always re-assure Keith that his dad loves him and wants the best life for Keith. I don't think he believes me. It's difficult to watch my kids suffer. Yes, kids.

I see Alex's Myspace and journal and she is not happy at home. But she will struggle on only because she doesn't want to move away from her friends in this her last year of school. I understand that, I do. But it bothers me nevertheless. I only hope that she realizes I am here for her. I have told her many times my home is her home.

Her dad has offered to help me if she does come to live with me. Of course, as long she is doing something productive, like college. It hurts sometimes, I feel like I am not doing enough.

Wow, that's way too depressing...

:takes a deep breath:

Okay, focusing on positive. Jack, kids, family, home, Halloween, love, happiness.

I'm good! It will all work out, I know.

I need to go shopping and find some sparkly yarn for my mama's scarf. One problem, what the heck is her favorite color?

I'm done!!

Yes, I have now finished Jack's scarf. It looks like a table runner, but that's what he wanted. And of course, I needed to take a goofy pic as well.

Don't I look great with red hair? I think maybe I'll make some yarn hair falls in red and black soon. That should be interesting.

Progress, progress, progress

So not only have I knitted a whale of a lot in 2 days, (it amazes even me how fast I'm getting) but today I found out I have lost 3 more pounds!
That means I have lost 23 pounds total and kept it off since Sept. Wow, I am soooo happy right now. I definitely need to buy new work pants though.

I do want to lose more and I believe that's what is helping me. My goal weight is to lose 32 more to get back to what I was when Jack and I met. Geez, it doesn't seem like so much anymore.

Good thing I like salads and yogurt! LOL

Anyway, I wanted to show off just how Jack's scarf is coming along. Here you go:

Yeah. I have gotten that far in just 2 days. Unfortunately, I won't be working on it tomorrow since it's Halloween! But look forward to pics of us all dressed up.

Wow, I think I'm addicted to knitting

Okay, I'm going to swear for the first time on here. I'm calling this my WTF Scarf. Why, you ask?
Well, apparently I'm to be the Queen of scarves. I finished Amanda's and I got all antsy. I was going to take a small break, but I really wanted to start something new.

Jack had told me he wanted a red and black scarf, but he wanted it to be "different" from everything else I had already made. So here's what I came up with:

Yes, I am using 2 strands of yarn to make it. One is black and one is cherry red. He wanted it to be bold, he got it. I am going to try to not push myself too hard with this one as it's not a priority. But it should take me about a week to get it done.

Which is good, considering I will have to go and buy some fancy yarn to make a scarf for that special anonymous person on my XMAS list.

So I will have one gift all set to go. But don't think that means I am any more organized than other years. I have NO idea who wants what or even what the heck I am doing around that time.

One holiday at a time...that's how I work.

:laughs:

Yes, I'm still awake

I am almost finished with Amanda's scarf. I had this crazy idea to finish it in 3 days, long story. I figure that technically it will be 3 days if I don't go to bed until it is done. So that's what I am doing.

I will post a pic of it soon.

Love to all.

Edit: I'm done. YAY.

Here's the scarf. I still think it looks like the Cheshire Cat's tail. I really hope that she likes it.

Oh, just to show you I am still knit crazy

Before I took on knitting that scarf, I did finish yet another pair of booties. These ones remind me of elf shoes!

Take a look:

Hmmm. "Someone" will never have to buy booties or hats by the time I'm through. LOL

Be careful what you wish for..you just might get it

So I wrote not too long ago about how I would never knit in pink unless it was for my sister or I got paid. Well, my new friend Amanda found out I knit. Guess what? Yep. She wants a pink and black scarf. Here's what it looks like so far:

Now my camera could not get the shade of pink that this truly is. It's that strawberry shortcake pink. Very bright. I hope that she likes it. I just started it yesterday. This is my first time doing stripes so I am really hoping I do well and it looks good.

But I am getting $10 out of it, so hey she gets a unique scarf and I get to knit and have some spending cash. It's a win-win.

Saturday, October 18, 2008

Well, I finished it!

I finally got that hat all done. I am a little depressed as the few mistakes I made you can really see in the photo. Oh well. Hopefully the mama won't mind. It also took me longer than normal since work has been mondo busy and I did go to Haunt on Thurs.

But judge for yourself...

I told you I was knit crazy!

Well since I haven't been baking for Halloween, I've been knitting instead. Even though I miss my cookies. :sniff:

But that's all right. I get to make other folks happy with my gifts. I finished a pair of booties yesterday for one of our business partners that do tours and have their guests stay with us. It's her first baby and she is due in Nov. It's a family business owned by her and her husband. They are so nice. They had seen me finishing up Alex's scarf and jokingly asked if I was making some baby stuff for them. I told them I could if they like.

They told me they were having a boy, so I made some very traditional booties for them. Take a look.

Now I am working on a hat in the same color. I hope that she likes them! I may make another pair in black just in case. I do have pink yarn but I swore that I would only knit in pink for Molly.
Unless I get paid. Then that's different..

LOL!

I did it, yes!

Well, I'm tired but I did it. I finished Alex's scarf. Not bad for starting on the 3rd, right? I knitted this in just over 9 days. Whoa. No wonder why my eyes are buggy. But doesn't it look pretty?

And of course I had to be silly and send a goofy pic to everyone. See??

I am the poofy blue ninja!
Muahahahaha!
Actually I look more like a Dr Suess character.

:sigh: I made it.

Well, it was pretty simple. The work, I mean. Geez, I was done by 3:30am. That's a way different change from my other hotel.But I was able to stay awake without the help of an energy drink. Yay! Of course I'll probably need it today when I come back to do my afternoon shift. Joy of joys.

A plus is that I am almost finished with Alex's scarf. I was only gonna use 3 skeins, but since I bought 4, I'm using 4. I'll tell you a secret. The reason is that I never want to see this flippin' yarn ever again. Oh, it looks awesome but knitting with it is pure hell.That girl's lucky I love her. No one else had better ask me for a poofy anything. NOBODY.

I have about 40 more minutes, then I'm going home and crashing out until about 12:30pm. Then I get up to catch my bus to get here by 3pm. Whoohoo.Hey, it's cash. Anyone else would have done the same thing. Don't lie.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
P.S. I bought my Haunt tickets for the 16th. Yes! I can't wait to go through the mazes as a guest and then post my review. Ugh, time to go...and wait for that clock to tick by.
Look I can make stuff!
By the way, I knit and am learning how to do special effects makeup. See??
My first hat and booties set.
My second attempt. I'm making these for a special someone who is trying to have a bundle of joy.
Work in progress. Scarf for Alex.
This is our set from our show The Darkest Hours. Fred the zombie on the left, I did his makeup and costume. Next to him is Chester, the sidekick and of course Jack. I also designed the set and set it up for every show.
I am hoping to eventually go to school to learn how to do special effects makeup like my hero Rick Baker.
